Privacy Policy

Please note: this policy covers our current pre-registration phase. It will be extended and finalised before the NetHitch app launches. What follows is a plain description of what we do and the promises we are making.

1. Introduction

NetHitch (“we”, “us” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect your information when you use our website at nethitch.com or pre-register for the NetHitch app.

We believe privacy is not a feature. It is a foundation. As a platform for friendship and dating, we know how personal your information is and we take that responsibility seriously.

2. Information we collect

During pre-registration we collect only what we need to save your place on the list:

  • Name and email address: collected when you pre-register.
  • Consent records: we record your agreement to our terms, your confirmation that you are 18 or over and your consent to receive launch emails.
  • Technical data: basic information such as your IP address, browser and device type, collected for security, fraud prevention and to understand how the website is used.

3. How we use your information

Because we are in the pre-registration phase, your information is used only to:

  • Save your place on the NetHitch pre-registration list.
  • Send you important updates about our launch and your early access and founding member benefits.
  • Comply with our legal obligations, including under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”).
  • Prevent spam and fraudulent sign-ups.

4. Cookies and analytics

We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics (through Firebase) to understand, in aggregate, how people find and use the website. These tools may set cookies or collect device and usage information. We use your browser’s theme choice (light or dark) only on your own device, and it is never sent to us. You can block analytics cookies through your browser settings or an extension at any time without affecting how the website works.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in these cases:

  • Service providers: trusted companies that help us run the platform, such as hosting, database and analytics providers.
  • Legal requirements: when required by law or to protect our rights.
  • Business changes: if we merge, sell or transfer our business, in which case your information stays protected by this policy or a policy at least as protective.
  • With your permission: when you explicitly tell us we can.

6. Data security

We protect your information with measures that include:

  • Encryption in transit (HTTPS) and encryption at rest.
  • Strict access controls, so only the people who need it can see your data.
  • Regular security reviews as the platform develops.

No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep yours as safe as we can, and we will tell you if something goes wrong that affects you.

7. Data retention

We keep your personal information only as long as it is needed for the purposes in this policy, for example while you are on our list, while we provide the service, to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.

If you pre-registered but never create a full account, we keep your name and email so we can tell you about the launch. You can ask us to delete them at any time by emailing privacy@nethitch.com. After launch, if you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, unless we must keep it for legal, safety or fraud-prevention reasons.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access, correct or delete your data.
  • Object to or limit how we use your data.
  • Receive your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Opt out of marketing emails.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, these rights come from the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you are a California resident, you have similar rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

Users in India (DPDP Act): you have the right to grievance redressal, the right to nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity, and the right to complain to the Data Protection Board of India if you believe your rights have been violated. 9. Third-party links

Our website links to third-party sites such as our social media pages. We do not operate them and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their policies before sharing information with them.

10. Children’s privacy

NetHitch pre-registration is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we learn that a minor has given us personal information, we will delete it promptly.

11. Where your data is stored

Pre-registration data is stored on Google Cloud (Firebase) servers located in India (Mumbai, asia-south1) and encrypted at rest using industry-standard AES-256 encryption. We put proper protections in place to keep your data safe, in line with the DPDP Act and other recognised standards.

12. Job applicants and candidates

If you apply for a role or email us your resume through our Careers page, you consent to us processing your personal data for recruitment. We use applicant data such as employment history, contact details and education only for hiring. It is kept securely, shared only with the people involved in hiring, and deleted when the process ends or after a maximum of 6 months, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will tell you about significant changes by email. If you keep using our services after a change, you accept the updated policy.
